The Book of Love

Adapted from the work of Elizabeth van Buren, resident author, Rennes-le-Chateau:

"At Rennes-le-Chateau, in the church dedicated to Mary Magdalene, is a beautiful stained glass window depicting Lazarus coming forth from the tomb. ... He is portrayed in such a manner that he appears as an Egyptian, and the cave from which he emerges is shaped like the case of a mummy.

When she lived at Magdala she was known as the Magdalene. Here she lived a life of sin. It was after her conversion by Christ that she returned to her parents' home in Bethany, and this house became a symbol for the reborn Mary. There are legends that say she sailed to France with Martha, her brother Lazarus and a small company of early Christians.

An ancient manuscript once existed in the Vatican Library which spoke of the voyage of our Lord's friends, who traveled in an old boat ... a story which appears to be saying more than it states, for as the ship was drifting out, 'Sarah, the handmaid' of Ste. Salome and Ste. Mary Cleopas, threw herself into the sea in order to join her mistresses, and with the formers' help, was brought into the boat.

There is a tradition that Mary Magdalene brought the Grail with her from the Holy Land. A story relates that Rene d'Anjou (n1408) owned a beautiful cup that he had obtained at Marseille, where Mary Magdalene is thought to have disembarked. Another version states he engraved the following strange inscription on a chalice: Qui bien buerra, Dieu, voira. Qui beurra tout d'une baleine, Voira Dieu et la Magdeleine.

Before their persecution by the Inquisition in the Middle Ages, the Cathari dwelt in this part of France, close to the Pyren. A Cathari ritual revealed their belief that the physical world was one of evil: Lord, have no pity on this flesh born of corruption, but rather on the spirit imprisoned within. The spirit which is the light is trapped in a body of flesh and blood, according to the Cathari. In the Secret of Mont-Segur we learn that there is a book in existence, a book that had been guarded and preserved by the Cathari, a manuscript which lies in a leaden casket in the depths of a cavern.

The manuscript is called The Book of Love.

When certain of the Cathari underwent torture, they admitted the existence of the book, known only to a few high initiates. The manuscript is attributed to John the Divine (the Beloved Disciple) and is said to contain: ...sublime teachings, marvelous revelations, the most secret words confided by our Lord to the Beloved Disciple. Their power would be such that all hatred, all anger, all jealousy would vanish from the hearts of men. The Divine Love, like a new flood, would submerge all souls and never again would blood be shed on the Earth. [The Secret of Mont-Segur, London, 1952, Escholier & Gardelle, authors]

A prophecy states that this book will be found at a 'pre-ordained time' by a 'predestined person.' Furthermore, it states that this predestined person, a being of perfect candor, innocence and absolute purity, would be under the Sign of the Dove.

If the Book of Love is really hidden in a cave in the southern part of France, the story of Lazarus might be speaking of the book itself. Lazarus was dead and lay entombed in a cave. ... When the predestined time arrives, The Book of Love will be called forth for all the world to read.

The Book of Love is said to be the book given to The Beloved Disciple by Jesus Christ. But there is reason to believe that it might be of much older date."

The Sign of the Dove

Excerpts from a rare text, Anacalypsis, by Godfrey Higgins:

The name of the chief Grecian city of the Ionians, Athena, was the name of the female generative principle, as was also Helena, called by Lycophron the Dove, which is a translation of the word Pleias, and also of the word Semiranis,* and Ion or Ione. The Ionian Athenians claimed to be called Athenians from Athena, which was the name of Minerva, who was both the female generative principle and divine wisdom. The Greeks were called Hellenes, which has precisely the same meaning as Ionians. And they were called Argives from the ship Argo, which was invented by Minerva.
* Nimrod, Vol. I. p.451.

Mr. Bryant says, "The Grecians were, among other titles, styled Hellenes, being the reputed descendants of Hellen. The name of this personage is of great antiquity: and THE TRUE ETYMOLOGY FOREIGN." Again, "The Hellenes were the same as the I?, or Iwnhj, whence Hesychius very properly mentions Iwnaj,`Ellhnaj. The Ionians and Hellenes are the same family. The same is said to be said of the Ưlians and Dorians: they were all from one source, being descended from the same ancestors, the Ionim of Babylonia and Syria. ... The term Hellen was originally a sacred title."

I will now add a few more observations respecting the celebrated Semiranis, or the Indian Sami-Rama-Isi. Nimrod says, "The name of Semi-Ramis will occur to every reader; she was both a queen of unrivalled celebrity, and also a Goddess mother, worshiped under the form of the Dove that accompanied Noah in the Ark."

Her name signifies the supreme Dove, and is of precisely the same value as the Peleias or Pleias of the Greeks, and the Iona of the Syrians, Babylonish Chaldees, and Culdees or HEBRIDEAN* Chaldees. The learned Lycophron calls Helen a dove by two names of that bird, Peleias (which has been explained) and Oinas or the Bacchic dove. Helen** was born out of a waterfowl's egg, and that Hyginus relates evinces fully that she was the Babylonian Venus and the Dea Syria. ...
* Here are the Culdees of the Hebrides, of whom I have treated at large in my Celtic Druids, with their saint Iona or saint and bishop Columba.
** Myrrha M沩s.

... The Holy Ghost was generally female. In the Syrian temple of Hierapolis, where between the statues of Jupiter and Juno stood the statue of Semiramis with the dove on her head, it was the custom of the priests to emasculate themselves, and to wear the dress of women. The same practice prevailed in the temple of Cybele in Phrygia.

Mr. Knight knows not how to account for this. I believe it was done in honour of the female principle, the Ionism, which prevailed in these places in a peculiar manner. ... From this we see that the pillar saints were not peculiar to Christianity, and that they preceded it many generations. Lucian also says, the temple at Hierapolis, or the sacred city, resembles the temples of Ionia. At Hierapolis the female statue with the dove upon its head was called Sema.* This was the Semi-ramis of the Assyrians converted into a Dove, and the Rama-Sema or Sema-Rama of India.** ...
* Faber, origin. Pag. Idol. Vol. III. pp. 33, 34.
** See Asiat. Res. Vol. IV. p.369.

The Goddess of Dodona had a dove on her head, and was called Dione. This Dione was evidently Di-ioni or Di-iune, that is, the holy Iune-diva Iune.

Noah, or Nh, or MNH, or Menu, or Mind, sent out a raven-the emblem of darkness-which made no return, produced nothing; he then sent out the dove, the emblem of Love, which brought back the olive, the emblem of wisdom, of Minerva. Efwj, Divine Love, was the Protogonos, the same as wisdom.

The above observations are strikingly supported by the following passages of the Jewish writings [Vulgate]: Jeremiah xxv. 38, xlvi. 16, l. 16 ...

The crime of the Samaritans was a return to the adoration of Taurus and the double principle, evidenced by setting up of the calves, doubtless both male and female, at Dan, and Bethel, and by the dove found in their temples, as reported by Rabbi Meir. In the time of Rabbi Meir, as I have already stated, the image of a dove was found in the temple of Mount Gerizim. This serves to shew, that one reason of the schism between the Jews and Samaritans was the return of the latter to the adoration of the Queen of Heaven. The Macaifaj `Ellhnic?, the Hellenic Sword, clearly proves the truth of what I have before said, that Helen and Ione had the same meaning-that of the female generative power. The Septuagint often serves as a most useful gloss.

Philo Jud浳 says, that Moses learnt the rest of the sciences of the Hellenes ... And Clemens Alexandrinus says, that the Hellenes educated him in Egypt as a princely child, and instructed him in the whole circle of the sciences. ... Mr. Bryant says, "From what has been said, it appears plainly, that the Hellenes and Iones were the same people under different appellations. They were the descendants of Hellen and Ion, two names of the same personage; among whose sons idolatry first began in the region of Babylonia. He was styled I?I?n, Ionichus, and was supposed to be the author of Magic. From him the Babylonians and the name I?, as well as of Hellenes; for these terms were used as in some degree synonymous."

Thus Semiramis, or Semi-rama-isi, was the same as Helen, or, in short, Venus, or Divine Love. Her visible form was that of a Dove, as well as that of the woman, who was the Io of the Ionites, or Ionians of Syria, who was carried on the back of the TAURI-form Jove to Europe, where her followers were known by the name of Ionian Pelasgi, or Ionian sailors. ... ... Again Nimrod says, "The wheel upon which criminals were extended was a cross, of which two spokes confined the arms and two the legs. The dove of Venus (born on the banks of the Euphrates) was a m殡d of fanatic bird, crucified on a wheel with four spokes ... "

From the Sibylline oracles I learn that the dove sent out by Noah was black. The mysticism of this black dove is pretty clear. I have seen very dark-coloured but never a raven-black dove. The dove was the only bird offered in sacrifices by the Jews.

Although we have found in Egypt the Goddess Neith, or their Minerva, the Nat of North India; yet we have not found the Ras or Wisdom so marked as in most other countries: but, nevertheless, it was really there, as we might expect. Plutarch says, that Isis means Wisdom; that her temple is called Iseion: alluding to that knowledge of the Eternal and Self-existent Being which may be there obtained. ... She is also called Athena, which we have formerly seen was the name of Helena, and meant Wisdom;-in fact, Athena is only the reverse way of reading the word Neithe a little transposed. ...

Again he observes, that Isis is frequently called by the Egyptians Athena, signifying, in their language, I proceeded from myself. In the same section he says, that Typho is called Seth. In section 9 he says, that Isis is called Minerva. ... There can be no doubt that the names Isis of Egypt and Isi of India, were derived from the word of the ancient language: iso, to save, and meant Saviour, and consequently Logos as the Saviour: yet, as the Logos, according to my system, it ought to mean Wisdom, as we have every where seen the Logos to mean Wisdom, and this it did, as I have just shewn.

Bloodline The Movie

http://www.bloodline-themovie.com

We have been promising, amidst widespread curiosity and speculation, exciting news about discoveries in France. I can now confirm that Bruce has spent much of the last twelve months filming the research and discoveries of ‘Ben Hammott’, aka 'The Tombman'.

Back in 2000, Ben and his brother discovered what appeared to be an extraordinary tomb not far from the village of Rennes-Le-Chateau. As many of you know, he posted images that he’d captured at the time on his website, but few took him, or his find, seriously.

In 2006, as part of his investigations for Bloodline, Bruce met up with Ben to learn more about his find. By using what he said were a series of encoded messages in the décor of the church at RLC, Ben had discovered a series of bottles containing handwritten, signed, “confessions” of the priest Sauniere.

The contents, if they were true, were stunning.

"I have done what I have done to preserve the secret. Maybe in the future the time will come for the secret to be revealed because it is too great a secret to be kept for all eternity."

"I abandon and renounce my religion I now know to be false…Jesus did not die on the Crucifix but 22 days later. Mary Magdalene removed his body from his tomb. The Disciples and the People were fooled about his Resurrection."

" His body has been hidden three times…For many centuries this great lie has been concealed."

The signatures, at least, on the clues are similar to those on letters from the priest’s own archives, supplied by Antoine Captier.

Each clue led Ben to another. The final one led to a cave near Rennes-le-Chateau, which has come to be known in recent times as ‘the Cave of the Magdalene’.

Bruce joined Ben for the hike to the cave, and it was there they discovered the the small pottery cup, an anointing jar, the glass vial containing the rolled parchment and a collection of ancient coins.

Those of you who have followed the news on our site will know by now that after analysis, by both the British Museum in London and Dr Gabi Barkay in Jerusalem, those contents were proved to be genuine 1st Century relics, most likely brought from Jerusalem to France.

The question Bruce faced was whether these relics had been found originally in the tomb of Mary Magdalene, and if so, was that a very strong indication she is buried in the area as the legends suggest ?

The small piece of parchment rolled up inside the glass vial was dated to circa 1430 by the radio carbon lab at Oxford University. On it were the words Regalis Crypta or Royal Tombs and the letters MM.

Among the written confessions on one of the clues was this…

‘I have dug the earth to make a passage to the mountain tomb….I found there beautiful things…a treasure and a corpse…the sacred letters, the sacred history and the sacred objects of the Jews…because it had been buried for so long the shroud was all in tatters exposing me to a great secret…”

Had the priest found the tomb of Mary Magdalene? And was this what Ben had discovered back in 2000?

Inside there was what appeared to be a shrouded corpse, bearing the distinctive red cross of the Knights Templar.

There were also a number of wooden chests and other artifacts scattered on the ground.

It appeared as if someone had started to loot this tomb.

It was clearly time to re-examine Ben’s tomb, and in early 2007 Ben took Bruce to the tomb site.

The only access to it was a deep, winding narrow air shaft. Using fibre optic cables and a remote camera, Ben unsealed the tomb shaft and lowered the equipment down into the tomb.

It was soon clear from the images on the monitor that there had been a heavy rock fall inside the tomb sometime since Ben's last filming visit. Much of the floor was now covered in debris, but the shrouded corpse was still there.

As the remote camera moved around the tomb it revealed open chests with gold cups, coins and jewels…..

A badly rotted book, or Codex….

The shrouded body.

Bruce had this to say: “It's really too early to say whose body is under the shroud. Wild speculation serves no purpose, and as recent finds in Jerusalem have proved, I think it can be damaging. We need to take this really slow, proceed very carefully, do the tests, analysis and then see what’s what. One thing is for certain though, this is a real corpse, in a real tomb, surrounded by real treasure. Whoever it is, this could be a very important historical find. That is why plans are underway to approach the French authorities for a full scale excavation of the site.”

We will update you with more news in due time. Thanks again for your interest, and thanks especially for all the supportive emails that continue to come in.

The Daughter of God:
The Real Story of Joan of Arc

At the church of Mary Magdalen at Rennes-le-Chateau, there is a curiously neglected statue. It is obviously the work of the same Marseilles craftsman who created all of the works which dominate the church's interior, yet it is essentially abandoned. It is stored on a patio outside the Villa Bethania, exposed to the elements. Paint cracks and peels from it, and tourists have seemingly chipped off bits of it as souvenirs. It is a statue of that intrinsically French saint, Joan of Arc.

When we visited the church, the tour guide could not satisfactorily explain to us why this particular statue has been exiled to this seemingly insignificant location. Neither did she know if it was ever originally within the church, or indeed anything whatsoever of its original whereabouts. This statue is a genuine anomaly. It is a piece of history relegated to insignificance in a place where virtually everything is perceived to be pregnant with potential significance. How did this statue, which, even in its present state of decay, retains the essence of its original beauty and elegance, come to attain such a poor status in relation to the other objects within the church? It is very curious.

Another question might be: “What relationship can be shown to exist between Saint Jean and what is known of the Rennes-le-Chateau mystery?” In fact, there are quite a few connections, but to explore them in any meaningful manner entails a reevaluation of Joan of Arc and her legacy. The standard notion that she was a young girl who heard voices (and may have been crazy) seems very inadequate. Even the most superficial inquiries into the life of Joan of Arc indicate that her real story has never been revealed. Her relationship with the prominent Angevin Grail dynasty suggests that there is much more than meets the eye.

For ages before the appearance of Joan of Arc on history's timeline, there was a popular tale in French folklore that in the nation's darkest hour, “The Maiden of Orleans” would appear, unite its citizens and vanquish its foes. So popular was the legend that certain leaders attempted to manufacture such "Maidens" to serve their own ends. Invariably, a skeptical public saw through such ploys, and all of these attempts came to naught. Until Joan came along.

Most tellings of the story of Joan of Arc don't begin to reveal the full extent of how she was perceived in France in her day. She was thought to be the “Daughter of God”, a sort of feminine French Christ sent to Earth by the primordial patriarch to save the monarchy of France. Pretty wild stuff, but not at all inconsistent with what you would expect of an Angevin/Merovingian conspiracy. René de Anjou's ancestors were masters at manipulating archetypes and reviving old myths with new emanations. Also, both René and Joan were so close that many presumed them to be lovers.

In more recent times, an ancestor of René d'Anjou was said to have been married to a woman named Melusine who was half-serpent, half-human. This is an obvious recapitulation of the cabalistic tradition which states that Cain's mother Lillith was also a mix of serpent and human. René's distant ancestor Jesus Christ seems to have had a very conscious strategy to fulfill Messianic prophecy, detail by detail. A prophecy existed promising a Messiah, and a man appeared who embodied that prophecy, or certainly appeared to. He wasn't the first of his bloodline to recycle old myths and present himself as their embodiment, nor was he the last. Just as Christ had reconstituted the myth of Osiris, Joan of Arc has, in a way, reconstituted the myth of Christ. She was the “Daughter of God”, sent to save her people. Had all not gone awfully awry, she would have been worshipped as a living goddess. In fact, her martyrdom, which she wholeheartedly embraced, lead to essentially the same result. The real question in all of this seems to be: “To what extent was Joan consciously aware of the process in which she was involved?”
